Hosts agree to these terms when they create a host on Pet Event.
Who we are
Pet Event is run by two dog-loving partners. Email: support@petevent.co.uk. "We" and "us" mean Pet Event.
"You" means the business, club, charity or group you host for, and everyone on its team. These terms work together with What you can't list on Pet Event and our privacy notice.
Who can host
- You must be 18 or over and act for a business, club, charity or group, not as a private individual.
- Your events must take place in the UK.
- The details you give us, including who you are, must be true. We may ask for proof, and we may refuse an account without giving a reason.
Your account and team
- Keep your sign-in safe. Don't share it: invite team members instead.
- You are responsible for what your team does with your host account. Owners can add and remove team members.
- Some actions need two-step sign-in, for example taking payments. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
Your listings and photos
- Everything you post must be accurate, lawful and follow What you can't list.
- You must own your text and photos, or have permission to use them, including from anyone who can be recognised in a photo.
- You let us show your host page, listings and photos on Pet Event, in our emails and in our social media posts about events. This permission is free and doesn't stop you using them elsewhere. It ends when you remove them, except for posts already published and backups kept for up to 12 months.
- We may shorten or tidy your text to fit our pages, but we won't change what it means.
How we check what you post
- We check every host page, listing, photo and change before the public sees it, usually within a day.
- To help us, photos are checked automatically: by Sightengine before we look at them, and by Cloudflare's CSAM Scanning Tool, which compares public photos with known child sexual abuse images.
- We decide what to publish. We may refuse a listing, ask for changes, take something down or suspend a host account, without notice if people or animals may be at risk.
- We report suspected child sexual abuse material to NCMEC, which passes UK reports to the National Crime Agency. We report other crimes to the police where needed, and keep evidence for as long as the law requires.
Claiming a listing we already show
If we already list your event, you can claim it. You confirm that you run it, and we may ask for proof before we hand it over.
Bookings through Pet Event
- You run your event and are responsible for it, including its safety, the welfare of the animals, any licences and insurance, and what you tell guests.
- Honour every booking. If you cancel or postpone a date, do it in your dashboard so guests are told.
- Questions and terms you add for guests, such as a waiver, are between you and your guests. They must be fair, and can't exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Your guests' details
- You see the names, email addresses and answers of the people who book, and you can download your guest list.
- Your dashboard also shows how many people looked at your event pages and where they came from. These are totals only: we don't tell you who visited.
- Use them only to run the event and to contact guests about it. Don't use them for marketing unless a guest agrees to it separately.
- Keep them secure, and delete your copies within 12 months after the event.
- For your own use of these details, you are responsible under data protection law.
Messages
- Dog owners can write to you through Pet Event. Their message comes to your contact email with their email address, so you can reply. Use it only to answer them.
- You can write to the people booked on your events from your dashboard, about their booking only: no marketing. You can send up to 3 messages a day for each event. Messages are text only and can link only to Pet Event, and to your own website once we've made you a Verified host.
- Your messages go out under your host name followed by "via Pet Event", and guests' replies go to your contact email, so they'll see that address.
- Anyone can report a message. We keep messages for 90 days, and longer while a report about one is open, and we may read a message someone reports. We may stop you sending messages if you misuse them.
Paid tickets
Paid tickets aren't open yet. When they open, more terms apply, including Stripe's Connected Account Agreement, and you'll be asked to agree to them before you can sell.
Fees
- Your host page, your listings and free tickets are free.
- Paid tickets: our fee is 2% of each paid ticket's price, at most 50p a ticket. It comes out of what you receive, so buyers pay exactly your price. Stripe, our payment partner, also charges its own fee for each payment, separately from ours.
- Discounts: we may charge less than these fees, or nothing, for a time, for some hosts or all of them, for example during an offer. Each discount has an end date, shown on our pricing page or told to you when the discount starts. We may move the end date later, but never earlier, and the discount won't get smaller before then. The full fee applies only to orders made after the end date. Ending a discount isn't raising a fee.
- Registered charities pay no fee on paid tickets once we've checked their charity number.
- Refunds: if you refund a buyer, our fee goes back to you: all of it for a full refund, the same share for a partial one. If a buyer's bank takes a payment back (a chargeback), our fee on it isn't returned.
- Featured listings are optional, and you see the price before you pay. A monthly plan renews each month until you cancel it, then runs to the end of the month you've paid for. If we can't feature what you paid for, we'll refund you.
- VAT: our fees and prices include any VAT we have to charge.
- Our current prices are on our pricing page. We'll email you at least 30 days before we raise a fee or add a new one, and a new or higher fee never applies to orders already made.
Reports, complaints and appeals
- Anyone can report a listing or a host. We look at every report within 2 working days, sooner if someone may be at risk.
- If we refuse a listing, take something down or suspend your account, we'll tell you why, unless the law or someone's safety stops us.
- If you think we got it wrong, reply to our email or write to support@petevent.co.uk. We'll look at it again and reply within 2 working days.
Ending
- You can delete your host at any time in Settings, or ask us to. Cancel your future dates first, so your guests are told.
- We may suspend or close a host account that breaks these terms, the rules or the law, or puts people or animals at risk.
- These sections keep applying after an account closes: your guests' details, our responsibility, and the law that applies.
Our responsibility
- We provide Pet Event as it is. We don't run your events and can't promise the site will always be available.
- As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, lost profits or lost bookings. Our total liability to you is limited to £100.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
Changes and law
- We may update these terms. We'll email you at least 30 days before a change that affects you, unless the law requires it sooner. If you don't agree, you can close your account.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales decide any dispute.
