This notice explains what personal information Pet Event collects on www.petevent.co.uk and blog.petevent.co.uk, why, and what you can do about it. Pet Event lists dog-friendly events in the UK. Events are run by their hosts, independent businesses, clubs and charities.
Pet Event is run by two dog-loving partners, who are responsible for your personal information (the controller). You can reach us at support@petevent.co.uk.
When you browse. You don't need an account, and we don't use cookies or advertising. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) so the site can run and be protected from abuse. We count visits with Umami, which sets no cookies and doesn't identify you: we only see totals. We also count clicks to hosts' and organisers' websites, and visits to hosts' event pages with where they came from (for example a search engine, a social app or a share link), as daily totals without storing identifiers or IP addresses. Hosts see only those totals.
When you look for events near you. "Use my location" shares your position with the page only to sort events by distance; it stays on your device. A postcode or town you type is sent to postcodes.io to find where it is, with nothing about you attached.
When you book an event. Your name and email address, the answers you give for each place (for example your dog's name), your name and the time if the host asks you to accept their terms, and the time you're checked in at the door. We also keep the IP address and browser used to book, to stop bots and fraud. The host of the event sees your name, email address and answers. We email you a reminder the day before, and the host can write to everyone booked through Pet Event about the booking; your reply goes to the host.
When you report a listing, a host or a message. The reason, what you write, your email address if you give it, and the IP address and browser used. The host isn't told who reported it.
When you message a host. Your name, email address and message, the page you sent it from, and the IP address and browser used. We email it to the host with your email address, so they can reply to you directly.
When you sign up for the weekly email. Your email address, your postcode and where it is on a map, the dates you signed up and confirmed, and a code for the confirm and unsubscribe links. Brevo tells us whether you open the email or click a link, and we keep the date of your latest open, only to stop emailing people who no longer read it.
When you use the contact form. Your name, email address, subject and message. If you came from a "Need a hand?" link, the page you were on. They are sent to our support inbox so we can reply.
When you add an event. The link to the event, your email address if you give it, and any image you upload.
Spam checks on our forms. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a bot, is using the form; it looks at your browser, not at what you type. To limit how many messages can be sent, we keep a scrambled code made from your IP address and email address for up to two days.
If you host events.
Errors. If a page breaks, Sentry receives an error report. We remove IP addresses, cookies, sign-in details and the parts of web addresses after "?" first.
Event listings. Listings contain details that hosts and organisers publish, such as the event name, description, date, venue and booking link. If you are an organiser and want a listing we added changed or removed, email us.

Hosts. When you book, the host of the event gets your name, email address and answers, to run the event. When you message a host, they get your name, email address and message. The host is responsible for how it uses them, and our terms for hosts limit that use to the booking.
Authorities. We report suspected child sexual abuse material to NCMEC, which passes UK reports to the National Crime Agency, and we share information with the police or courts when the law requires it. We never sell personal information.

You can ask us for a copy of your personal information, or to correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or send it to another service. Email support@petevent.co.uk and we'll reply within one month.

Pet Event is for adults planning outings with their dogs, and hosts must be 18 or over. Children under 13 shouldn't book or send us their details: a parent or guardian can book for them.
We'll update this notice when what we do changes, and change the date at the top. If a change affects hosts or people with bookings, we'll email them.
